Training Aid Review - The Divot Mat

By Brian Weis

The Divot Mat

Being a Midwestern golfer I spent most of this past winter reading about golf and anxiously awaiting reviewing and testing the latest and greatest training aids so I can get to midseason form before the snow starts flying again. With spring in the air and temperatures above freezing, I took a trunk full of gizmos and gadgets to the driving range this past weekend. One product stood out and I spent the most time with The DivotMat.

Like the name implies the DivotMat is a hitting mat but with a twist. The mat allows you to place a hitting sheet over it to track your club impact impact, path and club position. Simply take swings at the ball on the matt and your club will leave a mark at impact. Studying the results can provide instant visual feedback and allow you to make adjustments.

Bobby Clampett, the author of The Impact Zone, has studied the world's top golfers swings and states, "The most important six inches in golf are those that precede, contain and follow impact." This area is known as the Impact Zone. DivotMat shows you exactly what you are doing in the impact zone.

The DivotMat $99 Set includes 1 DivotMat and DivotPad, 37 DivotSheets which is enough for over 1000 swings, 2 Instructional DVDs by Laird Small and a carry case. Additional packages and sheets are also available for sale at http://www.divotmat.com
